Professor Greer meets Sixth Form students in Cumbria

Co-hosted by Cumbria Aspires and the Cambridge Society, Professor Greer talks to Sixth Form students at Workington Academy and St Benedict's Catholic High School.

This visit was co-hosted by Cumbria Aspires and the Cambridge Society. During the visit Professor Greer met Sixth Form students at Workington Academy, he was taken on a tour of Lakes College where the National College for Nuclear is currently being built, and talked to Sixth Form students at St Benedict's Catholic High School.  In conjunction with Cumbria Aspires it is hoped his visit will assist in raising students' aspirations, as well as to give advice about admissions to Oxbridge and other prestigious universities, and to help prepare for interviews.

Sheena Kar, Director of Learning at St Benedict’s Sixth Form:

“We are delighted to have Professor Greer visiting and meeting with our students. Professor Greer’s guidance and experience is very valuable to our students particularly to those thinking about STEM based careers. It is very useful for our students to get Professor Greer’s perspective and will help them in terms of decisions they make for their futures.”

Sixth year students at St Benedict's Catholic High School meet Professor Lindsay Greer, Head of School of the Physical Sciences and Professor of Materials Science, University of Cambridge.
